Surrendering your pug is never an easy decision.
If you have come to the conclusion, for whatever reason, that you are no longer able to care for your pug, Appalachian Pug Rescue wants to help.
Surrendered pugs are cared for in loving foster care homes of dedicated volunteers.

The first step is to complete our Surrender Form.
We do ask that you be truthful. We need as much information as possible about your pug to prepare for bringing them into their new foster home and providing any medical care they may need. Pugs will not be denied based on their condition. Even in the event that we are unable to accept a surrender due to circumstances at the time, we have a network of cooperating rescues we work with and we will help find a placement for your pug. Our mission is to keep pugs out of animal shelters and in loving foster homes.
We do not charge a surrender fee, but we do appreciate any donation you can offer. All dogs that come into Appalachian Pug Rescue are vet checked, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and treated for any medical conditions before their forever home is found. Sometimes vet bills climb into the thousands before a pug can be rehomed.
Information provided at the time of surrender is vital to helping us make a good match for the pug’s foster and forever home. Once you have completed the Surrender Form, a volunteer will be in touch to arrange pick up of your pug. Please gather all records to help us give them all the proper care they need. Please also consider sending your pug’s favorite toy, blanket, food, etc. These items can make the transition into foster care easier.
Found a lost or stray pug?
You must first contact your local Facebook Lost & Found Pet boards, animal shelters, vet offices and Craigslist prior to contacting APR.
If you cannot locate owner information, we will help you. Often, these pets’ owners have contacted these agencies to find their lost pets. Shelters and vets can scan for a microchip and if found, contact the owner. APR will accept found pugs once preliminary efforts to find the owner have failed. We work with local shelters to coordinate the intake of lost pugs.
