Appalachian Pug Rescue is proud to announce that we have received the 2025 Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid. This Platinum Seal is a distinction achieved by only 0.1% of U.S. charities.

Candid, a leader in nonprofit and foundation data, grants this seal based on various criteria, including financial transparency, program details, goals, strategies, achievements, and overall impact. To achieve this level of recognition, we provided comprehensive documentation about our organization’s finances, objectives, strategies, and progress.

This accomplishment demonstrates our unwavering commitment to transparency, ensuring that our donors’ contributions are used effectively to support pugs in need throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, and New York.

Our heartfelt thanks to the ALITE Grant Program

Thanks to the generosity of  the ALITE fund, Lily Rebekkah — a retired breeder who came into our care — received the life-changing medical procedures she needed. ALITE fully covered her inguinal hernia repair, ensuring she could move forward into her new life healthy and pain-free.

The ALITE Grant Program provides up to $3,000 each year for surgeries that help former breeding dogs begin their next chapter. Because of their support, Lily is now recovering comfortably and ready to enjoy the love and security every dog deserves.

We are deeply grateful to Second Chances for Blind Dogs for their incredible generosity and support. Their $1,000 donation toward Topher’s enucleation surgery—and their gift of a halo—are changing his life in the most profound way.

Thanks to your kindness, Topher can heal in comfort and safety. Your mission to give blind dogs the second chance they deserve is one we’re proud to share. From all of us at APR, thank you for seeing the light in every pug. 💛

Our heartfelt thanks go out to The Pigs & Pugs Project, whose $250 micro-grant now fuels Simon Jude’s care. Because of your generosity, this sweet pug is already set on a brighter, healthier path.

Pug Squad grant

We’re incredibly grateful to PugFest Inc for awarding Appalachian Pug Rescue a $1,000 grant to support our mission of rescuing and rehabilitating pugs in need. Their dedication to spreading Pug Love through fundraising events and community engagement makes a real difference, and we’re honored to be part of their network of supported rescues. This generous grant will help us continue providing medical care, foster support, and loving homes for pugs in our care!

Appalachian Pug Rescue is grateful to Fidelity Charitable for donating much-needed funds to support our rescue efforts.

Appalachian Pug Rescue received a very generous $1,000 grant from First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania. The award is from the Pets in Crisis fund in memory of Ruth H. Tucker.

Appalachian Pug Rescue was awarded a grant from the ALITE fund to help with the medical costs for Juliet Paige’s surgery. Juliet came to us from a puppy mill breeder situation and needed surgery to remove a large mammary mass.

Appalachian Pug Rescue  received a $500 grant from  the Sons and Daughters of Italy #146 in Lock Haven. The organization has donated over $100,000 to area charities, non-profits, scholarships and more in 2023. Appalachian Pug Rescue is grateful for their support! APR award

Appalachian Pug Rescue has been selected for the 2022 Best of Lock Haven Award in the Animal Rescue Service category by the Lock Haven Award Program.

Each year, the Lock Haven Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Lock Haven area a great place to live, work and play.

In 2022, Appalachian Pug Rescue was chosen to receive a $1,000 grant from Pug Squad Group. We are very thankful for this group’s support.

Pug Squad helps pug in need by providing financial assistance to pug rescues nationwide. Our network of volunteers is on call to help pug rescues in the northeast with shelter pulls, transport, and emergency foster homes.

We are deeply thankful to the Pug Squad for their generous $750 grant toward Izabelle’s much-needed dental care. Your incredible support has made a real difference—especially to Izabelle, who is now on her way to a healthier, happier life.
