Remember Tessa Kay? The brave 3-year-old survivor who stole all our hearts after her emergency surgery? We’ve been waiting for this moment—and she is officially ready for her forever home.
Tessa Kay (20 lbs) is currently living her best “soft life” in foster in Central PA. She’s traded kennel life for couches and blankets—and she has fully embraced her new role as a pampered princess.
Personality: A Lovable Little Diva
The Food Critic
Tessa loves mealtime—and she will happily sing for it. She thrives on a structured routine (3 meals/day) and has very strong opinions:
- Natural Balance kibble
- Bone broth at lunch
- ¼ cup veggies at dinner (no green beans—non-negotiable)
- Chicken topper required
Yes, she’s a lot. Yes, it’s adorable.
The Snore Queen
Even after surgery, Tessa still snores like a freight train. It’s part of her charm. Your Zoom calls will never be the same.
The Toy Enthusiast
She’s discovering toys for the first time and goes all in—stuffies, ropes, yak chews, marrow bones. She loves tug and is starting to enjoy fetch.
Ideal Home
Tessa is incredibly loving and eager to please, but she needs the right setup to truly thrive:
- Another dog is required
She has mild separation anxiety and relies on other dogs for comfort. She does best with small–medium, friendly companions. - Fenced yard + doggy door preferred
She already knows how to use a dog door and enjoys having independence for potty breaks. - Home most of the day
Work-from-home or retired households are ideal. She can get bored (and a little mischievous) if left alone too long. - Door awareness required
She’s recently discovered the joy of trying to sneak into the garage. She’ll need continued supervision and training here.
Quick Stats
- Age: ~3.3 years
- Weight: 20 lbs
- Kids: Good; best with dog-savvy or 10+
- Cats: May chase; responds to correction
- Car rides: Excellent (quiet and calm)
- Leash: New to it, but learning quickly
Tessa Kay has been through more than most dogs ever should—but her heart is still wide open. She sleeps curled up in bed with her people, wakes up ready to love you, and is finally getting the life she deserved all along.
She gave everything in her past life.
Now it’s her turn to be the center of someone’s world.
