Some dogs come into rescue looking for a second chance. Rupert Pax came looking for peace.
We chose the name Pax, which means peace, because it’s something this sweet young boy likely never had the opportunity to experience during the first years of his life.
Rupert was rescued from a severe hoarding situation where he spent more than two years surviving in overcrowding, chaos, and neglect. While we may never know everything he endured, we know one thing for certain: those days are behind him now.
A Fresh Start
When Rupert arrived in rescue, he was absolutely crawling with fleas and clearly uncomfortable. His foster family immediately got to work, treating him with Capstar, dewormer, and a soothing medicated bath to provide the relief he desperately needed.
For the first time in a very long time, Rupert could simply relax.
No competition.
No chaos.
No struggling to get his needs met.
Just comfort, safety, and care.
A Heart of Gold
What makes Rupert truly remarkable is not where he came from—it’s who he is despite it. Many dogs from hoarding situations arrive fearful, withdrawn, or unsure of the world around them. Rupert, however, has shown an incredible capacity for trust and affection.
He is already proving to be:
- Good with children
- Good with other dogs
- Good with cats
- Sweet and affectionate with people
- Eager to soak up attention and love
His gentle personality has already won over everyone he meets.
The Road Ahead
Rupert came to APR with no known medical history, so we are starting with a clean slate. He will be receiving:
- A full veterinary examination
- Updated vaccinations
- Preventive care
- Neuter surgery
- Any additional treatment needed to help him thrive
Our goal is simple: give Rupert the healthy, happy future he deserves.
Learning the Soft Life
For the first time in his life, Rupert has his own bed.
His own food bowl.
Clean water.
A quiet place to sleep.
And people who care about him simply because they love him.
He still has a lot to learn about being a cherished family member, but he is already embracing the good life one day at a time.
Rupert Pax spent the first years of his life surviving. Now it’s finally time for him to start thriving.
