Meixiu Mei is on medical hold.
Meixiu Mei is a 5.5-year-old owner surrender who has just arrived at Appalachian Pug Rescue. She’s a sweet, sensitive girl who is settling into her Maryland foster home while we complete her full medical evaluation.
This little lady came to us a bit overweight at 30 lbs, so she’s starting a gentle weight-loss plan. She’s also a picky eater with a sensitive stomach, and she has a known allergy to Zoysia grass, so we’re keeping a close eye on her environment and diet. She has one curly nail on a back foot that we’ll address during her vet visit.
🐾 Personality & Behavior
- Meixiu Mei is a soft-souled, slightly skittish girl who needs time to feel safe. Right now she is:
- Skittish with other dogs, especially big dogs, and unsure how to interact
- Best suited as an only dog or possibly with a calm, small companion after time and decompression
- Not good around cats or chickens
- More comfortable with women than men
- Happy and relaxed in her crate
- House trained, bell trained, and crate trained
Despite her uncertainties, she’s wonderfully tolerant of care — great with teeth, ear, and wrinkle cleaning, and content to chill in her crate when she needs downtime.
